Clew Bay

Clew Bay was once the home of the legendary pirate queen Granuaile (Grace O’Malley). An unmanageable number of small islets, so-called drumlins, were probably an ideal retreat for the dreaded pirate queen. It is said that there are 365 islands in Clew Bay – one for each day of the year. Croagh Patrick – Irelands holy mountain – offers the best view over the bay.
