The ruins of Clifden Castle are surrounded by lush green hills above Clifden Bay. Through the entrance gate at the Upper Sky Road, you can reach the ruin in a 10 minutes stroll along a meadow-lined path. The path leads past ancient standing stones and through a peaceful landscape. Since the inside of the castle is closed and cannot be visited, the walk to the castle and back is the real highlight of a visit.
