The ruins of Kilbaron Castle are within walking distance of the Creevy Coastal Walk. The remains of the castle wall tower are gracefully enthroned above the floods of the Atlantic Ocean.
In 1580, Mícheál Ó Cléirigh was born here, who played a major role in the creation of the “annals of the four masters”, a documentation of Irish history, dating from 4500 BC until the early 17th century.
