Minard Castle stands majestically on a hill high above Kilmurry Bay. The ruin is badly damaged – a result of the siege by Cromwell’s troops in 1650, which no inhabitant survived. Remarkable is the beach below Minard Castle – a storm bay with large pebbles, that were washed ashore by the sea.
