At the edge of Castlehaven Bay, the ivy-clad ruin of Raheen Tower House is harmoniously embedded in the natural landscape. It gives the impression that this proud tower house is still keeping an eye on the bay and protecting it from potential attackers, even though the fortress was built in 1560 by the O’Donovans and bombed by Cromwell’s troops in 1649.
